Jonas Hole’s commencement address drew applause online and in person after reports that his Mississippi school misgendered, deadnamed, and allegedly altered his senior portrait.
“I used to be a journalist at Media Matters, where I worked on our online extremism and LGBTQ program,” Tara Dikhof told the Blade when asked how she became the actualized drag performer she is today.
“This is not merely a technical legal clarification. It tells trans people that their presence in public may be treated as a problem to be managed. A trans woman entering a women’s changing room, or a trans man using a men’s facility, could now trigger suspicion, complaint or exclusion. The likely result is fear, self-censorship and withdrawal from public life.”
Gender Stories, a major exhibition about identity and self-expression, opens at Walker Art Gallery [in Liverpool] on 16 May 2026. The exhibition brings together artwork from Grayson Perry, David Hockney, James Tissot, and Antonia Showering, photography by Catherine Opie and Zanele Muholi, new film by Ebun Sodipo and Ree Bradley, and personal objects from a Suffragette teapot to a Liverpool LGBTQ+ football scarf.
The Colorado Supreme Court has ruled that Children’s Hospital Colorado must resume gender-affirming care for transgender minors. The case, Bella Boe v. Children’s Hospital Colorado, was brought after the hospital paused such care in response to threats from the Trump administration that providers could lose federal funding. Justice William Hood, writing for the majority, argued that Colorado’s protections against gender-identity discrimination cannot be overridden by a simple calculation that more people might be affected if a hospital lost funding.
Rather than try to work through their fear of trans people and trans acceptance, reactionaries instead choose to double down and lash out, hence the absurd emotional language we see from them whenever they try and argue against trans rights.
“As many as 3.3% of U.S. high school students openly acknowledged themselves as transgender, with a further 2.2% stating that they were questioning their gender.”
