In an interview with Variety, Wachowski argues that money generated by Rowling’s fictional universe helps finance political and legal efforts that restrict transgender rights.

“J.K. Rowling funds trans genocide, full stop,” Wachowski says, adding that people who continue to support Harry Potter are, in her view, contributing to those efforts.
