The Church Of Cis Fragility: Where Outrage Became Religion

Bricki argues that “cis fragility” has evolved into a quasi-religion powered by social media outrage. There is an online “megachurch” where discomfort with trans visibility is treated as moral righteousness and “common sense” becomes a euphemism for bigotry. Its doctrines include selective empathy, martyr narratives about “free speech,” and apocalyptic warnings that gender diversity threatens civilization.

Some former adherents admit their resistance stemmed from fear of irrelevance rather than genuine hatred. As a counter, the Bricki urges for “rebellious empathy”: staying factual, joyful, and grounded rather than reactive, and refusing to feed outrage cycles.
