Do not blame trans people for Charlie Kirk's death (+more transgender news)

Charlie Kirk was shot and killed during a public event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

The identity of the shooter and the motive are not yet confirmed. Authorities have released CCTV pictures, are investigating, but no definitive conclusions about who did it or why.

There are reports that some of the ammunition from the scene was found with engravings referencing “transgender and antifascist ideology.” But this remains unverified: law enforcement agencies have not officially confirmed this detail. No public, confirmed forensic report or chain of custody is presented.

Even if the engravings are genuine (which is doubrful), that doesn’t establish that trans people as a group are responsible, only that someone- unknown, unknown affiliation- used ammunition with those words.

There is no confirmation that the shooter is transgender. Authorities have explicitly not verified that person’s identity or gender identity.

On Friday, U.S. and Utah law enforcement announced the arrest of a suspect linked to the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk. The individual, identified as Tyler Robinson, reportedly made comments to family members that implied involvement in the incident.

Robinson has allegedly made messages on the castings of unfired ammunition, referring to online culture and gaming, phrases such as “notices bulges,” “hey fascist!” “catch!” “bella ciao” and one with homophobic phrasing.

Robinson is not transgender.
